For a decade, AFASW has hosted an Annual Memorial Ceremony at the Air Force Memorial, next to the Pentagon around Memorial Day or Graduation Day to honor those from the Long Blue Line whom we have lost over the previous year, as well as members of the graduating class. Since the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Association of Graduates has assisted AFASW in preparing a virtual ceremony as well. Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules and a lack of sufficient volunteer availability, AFASW is unable to host this annual event. We apologize and look forward to recruiting more volunteers who can help AFASW continue this tradition in 2024. If you wish for AFASW to continue its mission of fostering the professional success of fellow Graduates and hosting community-building events like the Annual Memorial Ceremony, please contact the Board to volunteer.

What Does the Department of the Air Force Need for Modern-Day Warfare?
New technologies and widespread digitization are changing the paradigm of time and knowledge in modern-day warfare. As a result, the Department of the Air Force (DAF) faces various operational and organizational challenges in addition to technical hurdles in pursuit of Air and Space supremacy.
Please join the National Academies for a webinar, What Does the Department of the Air Force Need for Modern-Day Warfare?, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 2-4 pm ET to explore ways Airmen and Guardians can "turn up the rheostat on 'level of effort'" to situate and keep the DAF ahead of adversaries in a future when knowledge and time are decisive for success.
This event continues the discussion from two previous workshop series organized by the National Academies' Air Force Studies Board. These workshops brought together experts from the Air Force & Space Force, Industry, and other government agencies to explore how to optimize operational timing in changing environments and leverage new technologies with wide-scale digitization. Read the workshop series proceedings and learn more about the themes discussed below:
· Adapting to Shorter Time Cycles in the United States Air Force: Proceedings of a Workshop Series (2021)
· Digital Strategy for the Department of the Air Force: Proceedings of a Workshop Series (2022)
